BJC celebrates 100 years of innovation and design

The company receives the Business Trajectory Award at the Rubí Business Night and commemorates its centenary with an internal event at its headquarters.

BJC, a company specializing in the design and manufacture of electrical solutions and materials, celebrates its centenary in 2026, consolidated as one of the historical benchmark companies in the design, innovation and manufacture of electrical mechanisms in Spain.

For a century, BJC has been a part of the evolution of residential, commercial, and industrial spaces, offering solutions distinguished by their reliability, functionality, aesthetics, and ergonomics. The company has made industrial design and technological innovation two fundamental pillars of its identity, developing products that have shaped the evolution of the electrical sector in Spain.

From a small workshop to an industrial benchmark in the electrical sector

BJC’s history dates back to 1924, when Buenaventura Josa Camarasa decided to add the manufacture of electrical equipment to his small metalworking shop. Just two years later, in 1926, the company was officially founded, at a time when electrification was beginning to transform homes and industries. From its inception, BJC stood out for its forward-thinking vision and its ability to anticipate new market needs.

Over the decades, the company progressively expanded its catalog and industrial capacity: in the fifties it launched its first industrial material solutions; in the sixties it developed pioneering luminaires and strip lights; and in 1975 it reinforced its commitment to industrial design, a decision that would profoundly mark the aesthetic and functional personality of the brand.

Throughout its century-long history, BJC has developed some of the most recognized series of electrical components on the market, such as Iris, Mega, Style, Miro, and Viva, which have become benchmarks for their combination of design, innovation, and ease of installation. More recently, the company has expanded its offering to include connected and automation solutions with developments like BJC Nexus , geared towards smart homes and energy efficiency.

Currently, BJC maintains all of its production in Spain and continues to focus on continuous improvement, sustainability, and technological innovation as strategic drivers of growth. Since 2025, the company has been part of the European group ELKO EP, thus strengthening its technological capabilities and international reach.

In recent years, BJC has undertaken a profound industrial transformation focused on continuous improvement, digitalization of processes and optimization of its production capacity, thereby strengthening its competitiveness and innovation capacity within the European group ELKO EP.

The integration into ELKO EP has also allowed the company to boost its international projection and strengthen its technological development, while maintaining production and industrial knowledge in Rubí.

Throughout its history, BJC has played a prominent role in the industrial and economic development of Rubí, establishing itself as one of the most representative historical companies in the city’s business fabric.

“ Reaching 100 years means recognizing the work, commitment and adaptability of all the people who have been part of BJC during this century,” highlights Óscar Embid, CEO of the company.

Recognition of a century-long career

Coinciding with this anniversary, BJC received the Business Trajectory Award on May 21st during the celebration of the Business Night in Rubí, an award that highlights the company’s historical contribution to the industrial, economic and social development of the territory.

The award recognizes BJC’s ability to remain a leading company in the sector for a century, combining industrial tradition, constant innovation and a firm commitment to quality design and manufacturing.

The celebrations continued on May 22 with an internal commemorative day at BJC’s facilities in Rubí, which brought together institutional representatives, business associations, collaborators and suppliers historically linked to the company.

The event was attended by the mayor of Rubí, Ana María Martínez Martínez, along with members of the Rubí City Council, as well as the Secretary General for Business and Labor of the Government of Catalonia, Pol Gibert Horcas. Representatives from business and sector organizations such as CECOT, AFME, and ADIME also participated.

During the day, attendees were able to learn firsthand about BJC’s production processes and industrial capacity through a guided tour of its facilities, as well as take a tour of the key moments that have marked the evolution of the company throughout its one hundred years of history.

The company also took advantage of this meeting to pay tribute to the professionals who have been part of BJC for more than 25 years, in recognition of their commitment and contribution to the growth and consolidation of the company.

The celebration was internal and commemorative in nature, conceived as a space for recognition and meeting for all the people and organizations that have accompanied BJC throughout its history.

The day concluded with a cocktail reception with clients, suppliers, and strategic partners, sharing a celebration that symbolizes the company’s strength, evolution, and future vision.

With a century of industrial history, BJC reaffirms its commitment to innovation, design, sustainability and the manufacture of electrical equipment in Spain, maintaining its commitment to the development of solutions focused on the well-being of people and the new needs of the professional sector.
